Chairman Hideo Ohtsubo Awarded Honorary Doctorate
The Chairman & CEO of Tokyo Seimitsu Co., Ltd., Hideo Ohtsubo, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Pacific National University (hereinafter called PNU), which is located in Khabarovsk, Russia.
Honorary Doctorates are awarded to people who have made promoted the development of PNU and made significant achievements in the educational field. Tokyo Seimitsu established a friendly relationship with PNU in 2002, provided support for the conclusion of a sister school relationship with the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, helped with the process of admitting PNU students into Japan on internships, and otherwise contributed to the development of internationalizing education at PNU. The honorary doctorate is being awarded to Chairman Ohtsubo in appreciation of these efforts.
The conferment ceremony that was held on Oct. 17, 2005 at PNU was attended by a total of 80 university persons, newspeople from TV stations and other media, and other concerned parties. The ceremony started with an introduction of Chairman Ohtsubo by University President Ivanchenko?? and words of appreciation. Chairman Ohtsubo then expressed his gratitude for the honorary doctorate, introduced the business of Tokyo Seimitsu and talked about his expectations for the future of PNU. After the ceremony, a gala reception was held, and President Ivanchenko?? proposed the joint development of a course with Chairman Ohtsubo in the field of fundamental research.
* Internship Program Tokyo Seimitsu Co., Ltd. concluded a letter of understanding concerning friendly relations with two universities in Khabarovsk, Russia (Pacific National University and Transportation?? University) in 2002. According to this agreement, an “internship program” was commenced to nurture the development of excellent students at these colleges into first-class software engineers
