Transfer of business of in-line measuring instruments to Tosei Engineering Corporation

TOKYO SEIMITSU Co., Ltd. (Hideo Ohtsubo, Chairman and CEO) has decided to transfer control of its In-line Measuring Instruments business from its Metrology Division Metrology Division to its majority owned subsidiary, Tosei Engineering Corporation.

The transfer is in line with Tokyo Seimitsu's ongoing strategy to streamline product management and to best satisfy customer service needs in particular business segments. The move will mean that within the ACCRETECH Group all products in this segment will be managed exclusively by Tosei Engineering, whereas previously, Tosei Engineering handled only a limited range of products related to in-line measuring instruments, such as automatic sorters.

The market for in-line measuring instruments is relatively small. Divestment of this product group fits Tokyo Seimitsu's core business commitment to target products for large and expanding markets.

In mainland China and other parts of Asia, however, this sector is expanding - especially as these instruments are important for the machine industry. Following the transfer, Tosei Engineering will have total control of these products and will have the opportunity to focus its resources to further enhance product development and marketing. Moreover, Tosei Engineering is actively assessing opportunities for production of in-line measuring instruments inside China, with a view to cost reduction.

The move coincides with the launch this week of Tokyo Seimitsu's new subsidiary Accretech (China) Co., Ltd. Based in Shanghai, this company has been positioned to most effectively improve our customer relationships in the Chinese semiconductor industry and all products of the ACCRETECH Group, which includes Tosei Engineering.

TOKYO SEIMITSU Co., Ltd. will continue its normal business dealings in this segment in Japan, being assigned by Tosei Engineering. That is, there will be no disruption to the established local customer base.

These activities reflect ACCRETECH's commitment to pursue market segments with flexibility and manage its products with appropriate strategies.
